The Blog Herald, in addition to referring to me as a "pundit" today, posted a short quiz for bloggers wondering what to blog about. At first glance the quiz seems to run the gamut listing the various approaches that can be used by a blogger. It falls short of embracing all the kinds of blogs one can create. Here are my answers to the quiz:
1. Should I blog about what makes me angry?
I do, on occassion, blog about things that anger me. Most often those articles are posted here on my Technology Advocate blog. There have been rants about politics, but I can also go off on silly things like symantics. I guess I am an amiable guy, because these are the only expressions of "anger" I can find in the postings over the past two years.
2. Or should I blog about what makes me happy and/or sad?
Here, again, articles about deep personal feelings are rare. The happy side can bring a short sharing of facts like announcing a new grandchild or a more intimate expression of gratefulness for good friends. On the sad side I posted an article about the firestorm of a few months ago.
3. Or should I blog about what I do and see and hear in my day-to-day life?
I share such events often. These can include details of my travel, or capturing a snapshot with my wireless phone as I go about my day.
4. Or should I report on what others are doing in their everyday lives?
This one does not seem to interest me.
5. Or should I blog about the Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything?
Now this is one of my favorites. These posts are most often found in my TUUN Blog. One of the more intense along this line was titled Do You Believe?
6. Or should I see if there are Bloggers Anonymous meetings to cure my addiction to blogging?
Well, this may be something I should consider. I do a lot of blogging. Most of the material I share is about things that interest me--an option not included in the quiz. In addition to this blog about me and my role as a technology advocate, I author blogs about gadgets, knowledge management, digital identification, transhumanism, and answering people's questions about technology. I often feel like I am not giving adequate attention to any one of the blogs. This thought only spurs me to do more blogging.
Do you think I need help?
