The more I read about the 3.2-megapixel resolution (2,048×1,536 pixels) Kyocera Finecam SL300R, a truly pocket-size camera barely bigger than a business card measuring almost 4 inches wide, 2.5 inches high, and 0.6 inches thin, the more impressed I become. It's equipped with a 1.5-inch LCD and a built-in flash. It has a 3X optical zoom (38mm to 115mm in 35mm film equivalent) and an aperture range of f2.8 to about f4.8. It features both fully automatic and fully manual controls for exposure and shutter priority among many shooting modes.
The Finecam SL300R also comes with Adobe's Photoshop Album software, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, USB connectivity and an AC adapter that plugs into the camera and works as both a power source and a battery charger.
One of the amazing things about this mighty miniture is the speed at which it can snap pictures...
In order to achieve the potential 3.5-fps capture rate, you need a high-speed Secure Digital memory card such as Lexar's 256MB High Speed card, Panasonic's 256MB SD card, or SanDisk's 256MB Ultra II card. The SD memory card must have a recording speed of at least 10MB per second for high-speed recording. At that speed and with instant on capability there can be little excuse for missing the moment. The Finecam SL300R also captures AVI video with audio at a rate of 30-fps in 640 by 480 resolution, according to Kyocera.
The Kyocera Finecam SL300R is sold with a 16MB SD card at a street price under $400.
