Whew! Life is happening around here.
The big news for me is the state of my role as a Technology Advocate. I'm forging many alliances with technical support organizations, presenting Scopeware to prospective customers two or three times a week, networking with forty or fifty professionals of disparate talents who are actively assisting me with referrals and all the while I am doing my best to keep up with the details. I do not sleep much these days--too many stimulating projects to play with.
Janet and I are leaving for another quick trip to the Bay area. It will be great to spend time with Matt and Jared again. My boys are now men and I am very lucky to like them both as much as I do. We have our trivial differences, but the intimacy, activities and laughter we share make our connections mutually satisfying and a priority for each of us.
Jon is getting a bit nervous about leaving for St. Petersburg. He spends hours speaking and reading Russian each day. We will be waving goodbye at the airport gate in only a few weeks. Our guestroom is about to be back in service (hint, hint).
Stephanie is really ripe. Janet has reservations to be there for the delivery that we all hope will occur on time and without problems. I will stay home to manage my business, but Steph and the baby will come to San Diego in August, so I will get time with them in the not too distant future.
Mom's estate is about settled. I will be making final distributions to my siblings soon and then close her checking account. I miss her form, but her spirit seems as available as it has always been throughout my life.
I recently recovered from a bout with shingles. I thought for weeks that I had been attacked by some god-awful spider, or something. I finally went to the doctor and learned that shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. There is no real treatment--you just have to suffer until the disease has run its course. It was painful for about a month. I'm glad it is behind me.
Janet and I joined the AARP. No wisecracks from the gallery, please.
I send my love to all friends and family who find this message in cyberspace. Know that life is good here in paradise. Come and hang out with us when you can.
