We have just about finished the process of putting all of our stuff back where it belongs. The last room to organize is the office. I am taking the opportunity to glean all of the junk from my filing system and to rearrange things a bit for greater efficiency. In a day, or two, I will have everything better organized than at any other time in the past ten years.
Janet is awesome. She is doing very difficult things at the law school these days--dealing with mentally ill students, dying faculty members, lawsuits, and the normal Solomon arbitration decisions she is faced with daily. Then, she comes home to cardboard boxes in her living room and all of the stresses of settling back into our home. The amazing thing is the good humor and tireless effort she contributes despite the burdens she carries. I am a very lucky man.
State Farm has been terrific through our ordeal. They have handled negotiations with other insurance companies, paid all of the expenses we incurred as a result of the water damage including hotel, restaurant and moving costs and they make everything as easy on us as possible. Our adjuster, Heather Madden, has not only been a pleasure to work with, but she is becoming a friend. Our claim has exceeded $20,000, so far. Thank God for State Farm!
We love the new floors, and the indirect lighting we now have encircling the perimeter of our office ceiling is exactly what we dreamed it would be. Let me know when you can stop by and check out our refurbished palace.
